tempo in taper

Decided to get a tempo run in today of 7-8 miles in preparation for the John Bryan 50K. A little close to the Sunday race date, but I figured that my last 2 outings were at a 100 mile pace & I needed to get out of that mode. The temps in the mid seventies today was a big change (at least 30-40 degrees) from the very cool or cold weather on just about every run the last 4 or 5 months. My shorts were soaked after just 2 miles (no shirt of course) and I’m missing the cooler weather already.

wow, I'm so glad I checked your blog and that you mentioned John Bryan was on SUNDAY!! I would have showed up there tomorrow morning at 7am ready to run, lol. See you SUNDAY.

Good to hear you’ve recovered enough from McNaughton to take on this 50K and ALSO to do it in preparation for the Flying Pig! You’re very athletic & versatile to be able to switch back & forth from trail/road so easily & so quickly! Good Luck!

See you at the start Sunday.

Good luck at John Bryan. Thanks for your comments. I consider myself very lucky to have the Dino Series here. There are a number of nice trail runs in central Indiana. Perhaps none quite so challenging as Lovin the Hills, but fun just the same. Maybe I'll see you at Brown County. I'm running the Ice Age 50 Mile on May 10th though, so I may not have much speed left in me. Not sure if I can make it to 360 minutes at Muscatatuck, but I hope to be there.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to your report on the Ice Age 50. The race sounds/looks very interesting & I’d like to try it, but for now it conflicts with the DWD 50 in Gnaw Bone. Most of the conflict is that I’d rather drive 100 than 400 miles. Although a plus for driving further north would be that it should be a little cooler. Have another great run!
